Walking Together: Wellbeing, Wisdom, and the Future We’re Shaping Together

Last Friday, something powerful unfolded on Worimi Country.

Together with our friends at Thrive Stars, we hosted Walking Together—a shared space for meaningful conversations about what it really takes to thrive as people, as organisations, and as communities.

This wasn’t just another leadership event. It was a weaving of voices. A gathering of minds, hearts, and cultures. A moment of deep listening and co-creation.

From the soulful Welcome to Country and song by Aunty Cheryl and Uncle Raymond Smith, to the generous insights shared by speakers from Australian Treasury, Hunter Primary Care, University of Newcastle, Ethos Health and beyond—every contribution was a thread in something much bigger than any of us individually.

We explored:

  • How wellbeing is intrinsically tied to cultural connection, identity, and self-determination

  • The role of leadership in creating space for healing, dignity, and shared purpose

  • How partnerships across sectors can strengthen community wellbeing now—and for generations to come

At Yakuway, we believe that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices are heard, respected, and centred, we all rise.

Walking Together reminded us that the answers we’re seeking often sit in the space between worldviews. That reconciliation isn’t a destination, but a practice—a way of being with each other that values story, sovereignty, and stewardship.

We are proud to walk alongside Thrive Stars and all who joined us on the day. The conversations have only just begun. But we feel the ripple already. In every connection formed. Every idea sparked. Every moment of shared intention.

To everyone who showed up with open hearts, thank you. Let’s keep walking together.
