A lovely first step for the Deadly Dreaming research project.

Recently we held our first Elders Advisory Group meeting at Wollotuka, bringing Elders together with the Deadly Dreaming team to help guide this Indigenous-led, community-driven and on-Country approach to healthy ageing.

The Advisory Group will play an important role in providing cultural perspectives, advice, guidance and direction so the project remains culturally safe, culturally appropriate and of genuine benefit to Aboriginal communities.

It was also wonderful to have the Elders provide input to Indigenous artist Saretta Fielding, helping inspire the artwork that will become the visual identity and logo for Deadly Dreaming. Hearing what they connected with was very special — the colours of Country, seeds that spark new growth, the ocean, and the eagle. All rich symbols that will help shape an identity grounded in place, story, growth and connection.

A strong beginning, with plenty of listening, learning and yarning ahead. Very grateful to the Elders who are walking beside this project and helping shape where it goes next.
